The First
Annual Pumpkin Beer Tour, the
tour that started it all, took place on a beautiful
fall Friday in Boston, Massachusetts, October 25th,
2005. It was a glorious night of revelry, an enchanted
evening of comradarie, and an all around outstanding
occassion that cemented our love obsession with the
fall season. And on that glorious night, we danced,
we pranced, and we delighted in the delicious taste
of liquid pumpkin and most importantly, shared a wonderful
evening with dear friends. It was a night when troubles
were forgotten and everyone knew your name.
In many ways, it was one of the best nights of our lives.
You
see, it was a simpler time back then, when weddings,
babies, and all those other "big responsibilities"
were but a sparkle in the distant horizon. That night
was the culmination of an era, a magical era where scores
of great people all descended on one speck of earth,
our dearest Boston, and it seemed we would all be together
forever. But for reasons beyond our control, time moves
on and people move on and things don't remain the same
forever. Yet for that one night, we made the most of
our perfect time together.
The
night itself involved a sweeping tour of Boston's South
End, a leisurely jaunt through Back Bay and down Commonwealth
Avenue, and a Green Line train ride to our final destinations
in good old Allston. Along the way people came and went
but all contributed in their own special way. It was
a perfect night, and one that I will cherish always.
