New Jersey Curiosities
Part 01

Big Broad meets little Joan

The Big Broad of Blackwood, New Jersey, Miss Uniroyal is 18 feet tall and built to sell tires. Standing outside Webany's Tire Town since 1965, this lovely beauty enjoys her white cowboy boots, holding a pose, and muscular greese monkey types. Her vivacious sisters, all motor heads themselves, live in Rocky Mount, NC, Mount Vernon, IL, Lamesa, TX, Blackfoot, ID, and Peoria, IL, respectively.

Cookie Jar House

Built in 1947, Cookie Jar House in Glendora, New Jersey was the original prototype for a series of similar houses planned in the area. In the end, it was the only one built.

Nothnagle Log Cabin

This particular oddity is almost too bland to post, that is until you realize it is the oldest standing log cabin in North America and possibly the world. That's right, while the structure on the right is an add-on built 100s of years later, the original cabin on the left was erected in 1638.

Known as Nothnable Log Cabin, the humble abode sits comfortably in Gibbstown, New Jersey and holds a spot on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Impressive, indeed!
