Week 04 proved
a difficult task for Sunset Forever
as Team Domination was dusted by
division stalwart, the Gutterballs.
Even with a plethora of Jagermeister
leaping to their aid, Sunset Forever
couldn't quite eek out the pins they needed to disrupt their
cold as ice opponents. Dropping two close matches as well total
pin count to their silent but deadly opponents, it was a heartbreaking
wake-up call for our venerable heroes.
On the men's
side, Dan Halos stepped up big
for Sunset Forever with 8 consecutive
spares in the first game proving that a light touch and heavy
balls pack a larger punch than might be expected. His season
leading 174 was fierce and when combined with substitute Randy
"Biffle" Harlow's 137 it seemed enough to silence
any team. However, the Gutterballs
weren't just "any team" and in the end the
Gutterballs' never-say-die attitude propelled them to
a surprising Game 1 victory.
In the second
game, Scott Muoio led all rollers
with a 155 followed by Harlow's
154. Still, it was no match for the Gutterball's
relentless team attack and impressive alcohol processing livers.
Slowed somewhat by a late entry Jagerbomb
introduced into their line-up, the
Gutterballs nonetheless stayed strong eclipsing the 1100
pin mark and setting a new total pin count precedent that may
not be surpassed by any team the rest of the season. It was
an impressive performance by the Gutterballs
even as it showed a chink in their armor that could possibly
be exploited somewhere down the line.
Overall, it
was a tough loss for Sunset Forever
but not one that they will hold them down for long. If their
previous come-from-behind efforts are any indication, this is
a team that is playoff bound and may still win the Sunday 4:30pm
bowling championship. It is a tough task, indeed, though hardly
out of reach for the relentless bowling machine that is Sunset
Forever.
Special thanks
to Alecia and Randy
for stepping in for our missing players. Your enthusiasm and
bowling prowess is much appreciated!
