Split 3, Sunset Forever 1
It wasn't pretty,
but Sunset Forever held their own against the highly skilled
Oh Split in their league night debut. Captain Joey Johnson led
the team with a 144.5 average and a lot of encouragement and
support. His opening frame strike was most impressive as he
soared ahead of every bowler in the place and unleashed his
patented "Johnson torpedo" that many emulate but none
can duplicate. He was the unquestionable M.V.P. with his experience
and skill proving key factors in the team's success.
Dan Halos,
a new face on Team Johnson, stepped up as the number two man
with a 129.5 average. Even in the face of his quickly approaching
court time in his Sunday tennis league, Dan focused and worked
his nasty purple ball of fury on lanes 21 and 22. Not since
Bo Jackson have we seen a man with this much two-sport concentration
and sheer brute power.
And speaking
of brute power, Alexis Rush was the highlight on the women's
side, slowly but surely finding her form in the second game
as she toppled Oh Split's women with a 110. Her 95.5 average
holds great promise for the rest of the season.
Jen and Jenny
likewise made a game of it steadily improving their form and
their pin count. The pink ball duo may have a light touch but
I pity the pins standing in their way on future league nights.
Scott Muoio,
the sixth member of the team, failed to score in either game
of the match. With his usual case of nerves stymying his performance,
only time will tell if he can be the big game player the team
will require when faced with the league's heavyweights.
Overall, we
are proud of our efforts and look forward to hitting the lanes
next Sunday, same lane time, same lane channel.
