What do you
get when you combine an injury-free Rachel,
a focused (and present) Johnson,
and a cavalcade of lagers, liquors, and laughs with a rivalry
that just won't quit? Sweet, sweet revenge... and one helluva
hang-over. That was the story in Week 02 as Sunset
Forever rode Rachel and
Joey to their second consecutive
sweep of the season, this time upending winter grand champions,
the Gutterballs. It was delicious
pay backs for the team with the most menacing livers in the
league.
Things weren't
all puppy dogs and ice cream, however, because as our top players
soared, unloading a 171.5 and 164 average, respectively, our
second tier slipped into bowling abyss. It was voodoo magic
as the Gutterballs' latest recruit,
Kim "Sin," lived up to
her name putting a hex on Randy,
who in turn jinxed Joe Mama and
Noah, whose low rolling paralyzed
Muoio's pitiful game, whose lousy
play left Eric grasping at splits
and missed spairs and wondering how things could get any worse.
And they did. Enter: The Jagerbombs
(kudos to Kim for settin' 'em up and Randy for the earlier Kamikazis).
Good gracious, by the time our match came to its conclusion,
almost AN HOUR AFTER the next to last game finished up, it was
hard to tell what the hell happened, yet the result was clear
as day: total domination. What
a night, indeed!
As for the
future, things are looking promising though slightly tinted
by a very stacked division. Numerous opposing bowlers have already
shattered the 200 mark and with scores like that I'm not sure
Sunset Forever can be considered
the favorite against anyone. However, with their heart, drinking
prowess, and pure intimidation tactics ("Drink you sissies!"),
I'm also not sure ANYONE will feel confident facing them either.
With different members rising to the occassion when another
falters, perhaps Sunset Forever
IS the team of destiny after all. Only time will tell. In the
meantime, we'll do what we can, buy that slinky vixen, Fate,
a shot, and hope for the best.
Viva el bowling!
