After spending countless hours
slaving away to finish an 11 minute 30 second film, most of the
effort spent trying to edit out my thumb from in front of the
lens, "Cellular Breakdown" is officially in the can*
and ready for screening. I'm planning on bringing this baby into
the world on Thursday, September 13th at 8:30pm in the basement
of the Cantab in Central Square. An improv comedy cabal by the
name of "Bastards, Inc" www.bastardsinccomedy.com
have a weekly performance, and they're putting the movie on the
schedule that night, probably while the other acts are getting
coked up in back. Attendance is, of course, mandatory and make
sure to forward this on and bring anyone else you think might
have a subtle sense of humor and a taste for refined art. (If
they don't like the movie, you'll know you were wrong about them.)
Here's a little blurb they'll use in the Sundance
program: Cellular Breakdown stars Rick Richter in the role of
Max, a man who finds his increasingly frayed connection to society
only further damaged by the very technology intended to connect
us, and features two great songs from the smash local band "Gladiola"
and a couple of other not completely crappy songs by yours truly.
Here's the info: Thursday, Sept 13
Downstairs at the Cantab Lounge, Cambridge, MA
738 Mass Ave (located in central square, 1 block west of the central
sq. t stop)
Show starts at 8:30PM
Call me, Pete Septoff, at 617-699-6904 if you have any questions.
Finally, this will set you back three bucks,
which probably goes straight up the noses of bastards, inc...so
at least its for a good cause.

*(For those who don't know, "in the can"
is movie lingo for complete, it originated in the late 1890's
when films were often stored in outhouses to keep them safe from
the elements and marauding bears who loved the taste of celluloid.
This practice ended when people figured out the humid environment
and general stinkyness ruined the film experience for everyone.
Luckily, we live in the digital age so this is not a problem.
Nobody stinks anymore.)

Pete Septoff has announced completed
edit of Cellular Breakdown! Stay tuned for local area
showings as well the Boston area marketing blitz.

Rather than follow the typical
path of most movies, Director Pete Septoff and Producer Scott
Muoio are currently editing Cellular Breakdown's raw
footage independent from one another. While big time studios and
artists frequently butt heads over the direction of a project
resulting in finished films lacking a cohesive vision, Muoio and
Septoff are traveling this route in hopes of taking the world
by storm with a two-pronged attack of the east and west coasts.
That means you can expect two excitingly different and unique
cuts of the same film with different music, credits, etc. to be
played thousands of miles away from one another at the same time!
While there may be some overlap and an eventual "final cut"
the current road offers many opportunities for the marketing machine
to explode at any time. With wheels already in motion for debuts
on both coasts this strange yet exhilarating plot for cinematic
domination is what Undependent Media is all about!

Important Note from The
Director, Pete
To keep y'all up to date, we
completed filming this weekend. For the record, the last shot
was recorded in the dingy bathroom of an apartment somewhere off
Allston street, damp cotton balls and elmer's glue everywhere,
a cellphone buzzing insistently in the background. Thanks again
to the "free spirits" who provided mad acting skillz
and everyone else who helped out. Now we cross our fingers and
pray like hell I can figure out how to edit this thing and maybe
come up with some background music.
Anyway, seems like a good time to have a wrap
party: this friday 8-9ish in cambridge at 88 hancock st, apt#14.
I live right around the corner from Dado, but call me at 617-699-6904
if you were too hungover to remember how you got there one of
the last two saturdays. Bring a friend, if you still got 'em.
I'll send out the mandatory cornball evite just as soon as I get
some sleep.

It's a wrap! Filming of Cellular
Breakdown concluded Sunday with a final bit of Weeks Footbridge
pandemonium. Dressed in their yuppie best, our swarm of actors
pounded the pavement yacking into their portable phones as Pete
filmed from every angle imaginable. Sensational improvisation
was the order of the day and our thespians dominated the task
with creativity and gusto!
So what's next? Look for a wrap
party in the near future followed by an editing maelstrom and
then the inevitable world premiere! The entire universe waits
with bated breath!!!
"Just wanted to add my own
thanks, you guys did a killer job...except for Tonka, I was really
expecting a little more brindle from him.
I'll be able to make up a more solid schedule
for next weekend (Saturday, June 16) once I talk to Paul (the
owner of Petsie's) tomorrow, but tentatively we will shoot the
following:
Coffee shop/ street approach: Yolanda, Rick, Sheila + fam, Walker,
1-2 street extras
HBS yappers on bridge: Rick, Muoio, Sarah, two others (Bianca
+ Kevin)?
Office: Steve Big Red, Yolanda, Rick
If anyone can't make it next weekend, please
let me know."

Day One shooting
went extremely well. Cast and crew arrived on time, 7:45am, in
Central Square. We then progressed to Magazine Street to shoot
"The Bus Stop Scene." Next we sauntered to Pearl Street
for some on the move park action. Finally, the group made our
way to the Weeks Footbridge near Harvard Square for the end climax.
The weather behaved itself for
the most part. The same can not be said of the camera battery
which ran out of juice with one shot remaining. Unperturbed, our
team mosied to Eric's office to recharge and then hit Grafton
Street for a quick beer. 45 minutes later, Team Breakdown returned
to the bridge and got the last shot we needed: Rick gallantly
leaping into the Charles River. Pete, not to be outdone, took
a dunk, himself, basking in the glory of some nearby spectator
applause.
Kudos to Rick, Bill, Kindred,
Jill, John, Eric, Alexis, Tonka, Scout, and of course, our fearless
leader Pete for getting everything accomplished in a timely yet
effective manner. This was one of the best and most enjoyable
filming teams I've ever worked with, no question about it. Next
week should be fun. I can't wait.
