Ben and Jerry are uncanny
masters of creating ice cream sensations that taste almost
identical to your favorite desert treats. From cinnamon
buns to oatmeal cookies, strawberry cheesecake to key
lime and Boston cream pies, B&J's mimickry is astounding.
But just because they can simulate something great doesn't
necessarily ensure that the simulation is itself great,
too.
A sloppily guided Neopolitan
is what B&J's Banana
Split most resembles. Just
look at the packaging - it's a mess!
Banana
and strawberry ice
creams give way to walnuts, fudge chunks, and a rather
unsatisfying fudge swirl creating a goopy, chunky mess.
Individual flavors are indistinguishable which is precisely
the opposite of a true banana split's greatest strength.
Worse, the true banana split's best assets, fresh banana
and delicious whip cream are impossible to duplicate in
ice cream carton form ensuring that B&J's Banana
Split is not only a dissapointment,
but a project probably better left on the cutting room
floor.
