Oh, no they didn't!

Key Lime Pie

Oh, yes they did. Again!

Feasting on Ben and Jerry’s Key Lime Pie ice cream is a bit of a shock and awe experience. First comes the shock that once again B&J have managed to capture an unusual dessert in ice cream form. Then comes the awe as in awfully close to being delicious - that is until the novelty wears off and the tangy meringue taints the experience.

So here’s the scoop: Key Lime Pie starts with a perfect lime ice cream base. Not too strong but definitely creamy citrus in a good way. Pie crust pieces are added for some crunch and make for a grahamy good addition. Lime is infused sparingly jacking up the citrus quotient to a perfect level. Finally, there is the fluffy meringue swirl whose marshmallowy texture and oversugared consistency grates the further you get into devouring the pint. Avoiding the sweet fluffy clouds is your best bet and without them B&J’s Key Lime Pie could have been a contender. As is, Key Lime Pie is a fun novelty but not a flavor you’ll find yourself consistently craving.
