Oh, no they didn't!

Boston Cream Pie

Oh, yes they did!

In Boston, Massachusetts and its surrounding environs “the people” get their coffee and donuts from one, and only one place: Dunkin’ Donuts. And the most popular donut they crave is the Boston Cream.

Some way, somehow B & J have captured the delicious ecstasy of a Dunkin’ Donuts Boston cream donut in an ultra creamy ice cream form. Indeed, eating Ben and Jerry’s Boston Cream Pie ice cream variety is an uncanny experience. Pure decadence is the only way to describe it.

The flavor utilizes all elements of a Boston Cream encounter in its little pint: Boston Cream Pie flavored ice cream, yellow cake pieces, fudge flakes, and swirls of pastry cream. The combo is very sweet and combines the ingredients to near perfection. Chocolate lovers may cry out for a few more fudge flakes but there can be no denying this flavor proves exactly what it sets out to prove: Boston cream donuts can make for a tasty ice cream experience.

But is it all too much? Personally, I am a little creeped out that Ben and Jerry have accurately turned one of my favorite donuts into ice cream. Something about an extremely cold Boston cream donut doesn’t sit well with me even as I find myself chowing down on the pint. Kids will no doubt be all over Boston Cream Pie. However, adults with more sophisticated pallets may want to keep their donut and ice cream encounters separate.
