All hail Ben and Jerry's

Chubby Hubby

I get a chubby just thinking about it

A glorious mess. A monumental ice cream smorgasbord. A decadent journey into desert Heaven. Ben and Jerry’s Chubby Hubby is all these things and one of the best ice cream varieties ever created.

The secret to the Hubby’s success is in the mix. Gooey chocolate fudge coalesces with salty peanut butter filled pretzels while an additional layer of scrumptious peanut butter mingles in a vanilla malt ice cream base. Together, the pieces form a majestic blend that is different with every bite and yet perfectly delectable no matter the fudge to pretzel to peanut butter ratio.

Many of the candy loaded B&J varieties fail because they do not realize that in the ice cream world, less is more. Yet the Hubby overcomes that time-tested truth because it takes an already established over-do-it commodity (the fudge/peanut butter/pretzel triumvirate) and lets it shine without unnecessary tweaks. By using the relatively bland vanilla malt ice cream as the trio’s creamy yet nondescript base the main ingredients are encouraged to shine on their own, a genius decision that proves plain ice cream can be greatly enhanced with the right accoutrements.

In the strictest sense, there are numerous better ice creams in existence than Chubby Hubby’s vanilla malt. But taken as a whole, there are few fully realized ice cream experiences that can hold a candle to the majesty that is… the Hubby.
