An Ice Cream Oddity

Pistachio Pistachio
November 10, 2009

by Hal Clarke

You'll Need a Double Take

Lightly roasted pistachio nuts are delicately arranged in pistachio ice cream to form the simplest yet most strange concoction in the Ben and Jerry arsenal, Pistachio Pistachio. Is it good? Is it bad? I'm not sure, but it is a bit too boring to garner rave reviews.

The ice cream in particular is all kinds of odd. Like the boring cousin of rum raisin, it tastes peculiarly like alcohol, but which particular alcohol I have no idea. It has the oddness to pique the interest but lacks the pizzazz to make it truly satisfying. Then there are the pistachios.

The pistachios add a pleasant dash of crunch to the proceedings. Unfortunately, without an extra little something they aren't quite enough to make Pistachio Pistachio the answer to my ice cream craving.
