Keep it in the tank

Phish Food

As silly as the band and then some

Ben and Jerry's Phish Food makes two things abundantly clear:

1) B&J's fudge chips are a master stroke and quite possibly the best accoutrement the pair have in their entire arsenal.

2) There is nothing anyone is ever going to do to make me enjoy marshmallows.

Phish Food takes a heeping handful of the delicious fudge chips and sprinkles them liberally into their standard chocolate ice cream. Simple yet effective. All is well until the "gooey" marshmallow slithers in, contaminating the goodness with its sticky, runny, gelatinous nastiness. Throw in a smattering of equally gooey and less than impressive caramel mush and Phish Food materializes as a flavor sure to win over sugar obsessives and turn off anyone adverse to the marshmallow. Put me in the latter camp as one who isn't a Phish Food fan yet can easily recognize why it works many into a phevered phrenzy: marshmallows + chocolate ice cream = liquid gold for squishy sugar devotees. For the rest of us it's average at best.
