Super Bowl XLII Prediction

vs.

It's deja vu all over again... Boston vs. New York for another pro sports championship.

Is anyone else tired of the whole New York versus Boston professional sports championship rivalry going on these days? I know I am but as they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Whatever the reasons for NY vs. Boston Take 23 (and I'm not in the mood for a rant today), the fact of the matter is we are again faced with a NYC/Beantown championship match-up. That of course means the media is lapping it up, overjoyed that the big money market teams have once again arrived at destiny's door. I hate when the media is happy.

Personally, I don't care much about the game though I suspect a lot of people (including me) are dying to see The Pats blow their perfect season. But the truth of what will transpire is probably closer to another parade down Boylston Street than ticker tape in Manhattan. Aww, shucks!

I am an underdog man, so even though it bugs me to do it, I will be rooting for The Giants. Whether you agree or not, no team in today's sports landscape is to be despised more than this one from Boston named The Patriots, except perhaps the one from New York named The Yankees. No one enjoys a dynasty except loud mouthed idiots, so if you're pulling for The Pats I pity the fool.

My prediction for tonight's action: Patriots 38 - Giants 24

I would love nothing more than to see Tom Brady go down early in the game, Matt Cassel come in off the bench and outdo the dimpled wunderkind, and then The Patriots' arrogant defense blunder the whole thing for a Giants victory. Unfortunately, I suspect that's more wishful thinking than pragmatic prognostication. As Ice-T once quipped, "shit ain't like that," so instead of watching The Pats implode, my night will probably be more along the lines of enjoying some chicken wings, falling asleep sometime during the third quarter, and then waking up to find Bill Belichik mumbling something about only being concerned about next week. Blah, blah, blah.

Man, I hate The Patriots.
