March of The Nutcrackers
December 20, 2007

Factoid #17

by Scott Muoio

Large and in charge: The Big Kahuna!

To celebrate the holiday season and raise money for The Northwest Center, an organization to help developmentally disabled people, the invasion of the nutcrackers has arrived in Seattle. Sprinkled throughout downtown, Belltown, Seattle Center, and Pioneer Square are a plethora of fabulously colored nutcracker statues dazzling the eyes like a candy cane colored wonderland. Similar to the Pigs On Parade of 2001 and 2007, this parade of individually designed works is fun, festive, and for sale! Sixty statues in all cover the gamut from American Gothic to Holly Go-Lightly, The Big Kahuna to a Mardi Gras masterpiece, and on and on. Check out all the pics we've captured below.
