Welcome to
Brick Township, New Jersey, now the third safest city in America.
CQ Press's rankings of America's
safest cities, "City Crime Rankings: Crime in Metropolitan
America," are in and our beloved Brick Township, NJ, last
year's #1, has fallen from the penthouse. In its place, Mission
Viejo, California. Brick is third while Clarkestown, New York
moves into silver position.
Released yearly and published
by the private CQ Press, the rankings are based on crime statistics
compiled by the FBI and take into account American cities of 75,000
people and up.
Growing up in Brick, I definitely
enjoy my hometown making this chart time and again. The rankings
may not be perfect but for those cities who receive their props
it is definitely something to take pride in.
The companion piece to the safest
list, America's Most Dangerous Cities, finds Detroit, MI upending
St. Louis, MO as this year's most dangerous. It certainly isn't
something anyone in those cities wants to see. Like previous years,
this year's list will certainly have people talking.
Without further adieu, below
are this year's rankings from CQ Press as reported by CNN.com:
