A One Night Stand but Nothing More

Karamel Sutra
October 01, 2007

by Hal Clarke

Another B and J flavor whose concept trumps its execution.

Oh, Karamel Sutra, how I want to love you! But Oh, Karamel Sutra, you're just another high concept/fairly average ice cream in a world that hardly needs another muted ice cream attempt. Oh, Karamel Sutra, why does it have to be this way? Why can't your gooey caramel core overwhelm me in the same way that crunchy cookie swirl stirs my loins in Oatmeal Cookie Chunk? Why is your plain chocolate ice cream always less than I hope it would be? And B and J, how come that caramel flavored ice cream tastes so underwhelming when combined with those delicious fudge chips that are clearly the bread and butter of so many of your greatest concoctions? Oh, what could have been, Karamel Sutra, if only we loved each other the way we could, the way we should, but sadly, the way we do not...

But alas, perhaps some other time we can connect and make sweet, sweet ice cream love, Karamel Sutra. Until then though, I suppose it best we not see each other again. It's nothing terribly personal, honest, and we can remain friends. Sure, we can still be friends, but I think we both know what that means, don't we?

Arrivedercci, baby, and don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out.
