The fact that scores of critics, thousands of moviegoers, and seemingly everyone with a pulse has raved about Knocked Up baffles me.  Here we have an extremely disingenius movie that postures as clever and forthright entertainment but is instead a self-conscious, arrogant, unfunny pile of shit.  This is a film that I am told is realistic and hilarious and yet every character speaks in exactly the same smart ass, condescending manner, and every time anyone opens their mouths the asinine things they say are obviously coming from a smarmy screen writer rather than a thoughtfully created character.  To put it simply, watching this movie is like listening to nails on a chalkboard while getting kicked in the nuts by a soccer player.

The only thing I have to write about the plot is that it involves a loud, fat, obnoxious guy who somehow hooks up with, impregnates, and then miraculously “charms” a beautiful woman using an array of filthy language, sexist comments, and ignorance.  Quite simply, that’s fucking ridiculous.

Sure, there are worse movies than Knocked Up but few have the power to annoy me as thoroughly as this painful to watch, aggravating to listen to, unrealistic and obnoxiously unfunny travesty.  Write/director Judd Apatow may be a god to many, but to me he certainly is not.
