Northern State
All City

# 1
Call them fakes. Call them frauds. Call them poseurs, prima donnas, punk rejects, or all of the above. But whatever your opinion of the three ladies that comprise Northern State (Hesta Prynn, Spero, and Sprout), they are talented, intellectual, and utterly complex both in their rhymes and their point of view. They are a conglomeration of the urban and the suburban, rock and rap, femininity and foul mouthed audacity, hip-hop slang and text book diction, and their tunes are as hard hitting as N.W.A., as controversial as early Public Enemy, and as cerebral as A Tribe Called Quest. Northern State is simply music for the times in which we currently live, and All City is the best album of 2004.
And if you believe that, you must be drunk…
Ladies and Gentlemen… the best CD of 2004…
